Water application on a fire is the most important action on a fireground. But in the case of water problems, long or complicated stretches, standpipe operations, unknown location of fire, or confirmed life hazard, there may be a search team operating inside prior to the hoseline. This class will focus around how to do this in the safest way possible. The main objectives will be to review the modern fireground (contents, ventilation, construction), Thermal Imaging Use, Door Control and Can Confidence. Blending these together, we will attempt to set you up for success the times that there is no hoseline present. This will be a combination of classroom, skills, demonstrations, and live fire.

Stabilizing, lifting & capturing are the three vital components associated with a successful rescue operation when dealing with a confirmed pin. Remove any one of these, and the results could be disastrous for the victim and rescuers. This class is designed to provide students with a better understanding of the lifting & stabilization equipment typically used in the fire service. The objective of this class is to build a solid operational foundation based on the three aspects of lifting (stabilization, lifting, & capturing) and tying them together to insure a positive outcome. The focus will be Hands on Learning as the students rotate through real life scenarios involving motor vehicles, construction equipment, and big rigs. Students will get plenty of tool time while operating as a member of a rescue team using high pressure airbags, hydraulic jacks, hydraulic rescue tools, Res-q-Jacks, Struts, Griphoists, chain & binders etc.

Search and Rescue has been the hallmark of the fire service since its inception.
It is a skill like any other, but it is a skill we as firefighters often don't get the opportunity to practice often. Ask yourself, when was the last time you practiced search in real conditions? Real fire conditions? Real smoke conditions? and in a furnished building? The answer for most of us is not often enough!

This class is designed to get the students into as real life conditions as possible and give them the tools to safely, aggressively, and expediently search for life at a structure fire.

The class will teach VES (1st and 2nd floor), oriented man search, CAN search, thermal imaging, rescue techniques, searching off a hoseline, and much more!

Be effective on the fireground, with a systematic approach and sound techniques to maximize the primary search.
